North America's Finest Fishing
The
freshwater lakes of BWCAW and Quetico afford some of the best fishing
North America has to offer. Anglers in pursuit of walleye, northern
pike, small and largemouth bass, and lake trout consider this border
lake area to be the finest trophy fishing found anywhere. A recent
explosion of smallmouth bass make the larger border lakes home to state
record trophies.

Recommended Fishing Tackle
-
Light to medium weight Rod and Reel with 6-8 lb. test line.
-
Daredevils,
weed runners, Rapalas, spinners, and jig heads are standard. You may
throw in a leader, extra hooks, split shot, and some twister tails.
-
The best bait is a lead head (1/8 - 1/4 oz.) tipped with a leech. Twister tails work okay when leeches run out.
-
Be optimistic -- bring a stringer. Only keep what you can consume and please don't count on fish for every meal.
Parties are responsible for their own fishing gear, applicable licenses (see below), tackle, and bait.
LaCroix Outfitters strongly recommends the practice of catch and release in an effort to maintain a healthy fishery in the border country.
